Living Foremothers
Wisdom Series

In the Living Foremothers Wisdom Series I reflect on some of the Black, Brown, Asian, and Indigenous she-roes who continue to inspire my work and research. I’ll share a short tribute about her and how it inspires me and, I hope, you as well. Some of these women are in Our Brave Foremothers. Some have appeared in the newsletter. All of them have a story we can use, and should know.

We update this content regularly.

Come back for more!

I’ll update this series, but in the meantime, don’t miss our biweekly SistoryLessons newsletter!

History as Our Guide

We don’t celebrate the Foremothers to escape to the past, but because they were remarkable women. They faced challenges and built change, often under conditions far more restrictive than ours today. From them, we can gather inspiration, will, and resilience to keep pushing for solidarity, unity, and justice, for all.

The great Maya Angelou provides the perfect game plan. Take what these women left us, and pass it on.
