Sensitivity training can be a helpful tool for beginning to confront and unpack the history and legacy of racism, colonialism, slavery, and othering that is the foundational shame and pain of our society. But it is not the only tool, and when offered as a quick-fix, stand alone, it’s a waste of time, money, and most importantly, trust. If you only have one chance to change a heart or a mind, this ain’t it. The shift happens through intimate, individual reflection upon one’s own internal biases, fears, anger, guilt—and sometimes shame. Black-woman-owned, Brave Sis Project announces the third edition of the Journey-Journal, the world’s only day planner + guided journal celebrating Black, Brown, Asian, and Indigenous women who changed the course of history. All are welcome to our shared journey of self-discovery, learning and celebration. It will ship in fall, 2022.

In 2019, I wished to commit to deeper self-accountability & better organization. The planners on the market were problematic! Too white & cutesy, or the pushy “man” planners, low-key toxic. The “Black girl” planners were flimsy, with their lavish “you go, girl” covers, yet generic, every-page-the-same insides. Here is the Brave Sis Project origin story.

Podcast interview: this unique book highlights Black and other American Women of Color in history, notably the lesser-known she-roes, whose stories will energize and inspire users of all ages. Centering Black and other Women of Color but welcoming all, this is a lovingly created, colorful, and inspirational planner/journal with quotes, prompts, coloring pages, and commemorations to get womxn across cultures in a reflective, energized, and creative mood month after month through the year to come
