"Don't Get Mad, Get Smart"—Pauli Murray

Pauli’s many, many achievements include: graduating first in class at Howard Law School (but being denied the “automatic” admission into the Harvard grad law degree program due to gender); first African American to receive a Doctor of Juridical Science degree from Yale Law School, penning a 1950 legal tome, States' Laws on Race and Color,” that the great Thurgood Marshall deemed “the bible” of the civil rights movement; co-founding the National Organization for Women in 1966; co-authoring a brief in the landmark 1971 SCOTUS case on gender discrimination Reed v. Reed, with future SCOTUS member Ruth Bader Ginsburg; serving in faculty or administrative positions at the Ghana School of Law, Benedict College, and Brandeis University; becoming an Episcopal priest in 1977 the first year women were allowed to be ordained; publishing many books of poetry; and becoming venerated as a Saint of the Episcopal Church in 2012.

St. Pauli (not necessarily girl)!! We love them very much here in Brave Sis land. Say goodbye to plastic, and bag your goodies in this organic cotton tote bag with great life advice from one of our most cherished foremothers.
